Bétera will meet again this September with one of the traditions that are part of the history of the municipality: the Festival of the Divine Shepherd. The streets of the town will host the traditional events of the Baixada and the Licitada on September 7th and 8th.
The celebration will begin on Monday, September 7, when the Baixada de la Divina Pastora will take place. The event will start at 6:30 p.m. from the Ermita del Calvari, from where the festival will move back to the streets of Bétera .
A day later, on Tuesday, September 8, it will be the turn of the traditional Licitada, which will also begin at 6:30 p.m., this time from the Church of the Immaculate Conception.
The Descent of the Divine Shepherdess, September 7th
The first of the two days will arrive on Monday with the Baixada. From 6:30 p.m., the Ermita del Calvari will become the starting point for one of the most representative moments of this veteran celebration.
The Divine Shepherdess will thus once again tour the municipality in a festival that has managed to stay alive over the generations and that continues to be part of the traditional calendar of Bétera .
Beyond its religious component, the celebration also constitutes a manifestation of the cultural and intangible heritage of the municipality , closely linked to the collective memory and customs transmitted between generations.
The Auction will complete the festivities on Tuesday
The events will continue the next day, Tuesday, September 8, with the Licitada de la Divina Pastora. The event will once again be at 6:30 p.m., although this time the route will depart from the Church of the Most Pure.
The two days will allow the celebration to be present in the streets again and for residents to participate in a tradition that is part of Bétera 's historical identity.
The Baixada and the Licitada thus constitute the two great moments of a festival that continues to maintain its link with some of the most emblematic religious spaces in the town.
A centennial festival that is part of the history of Bétera
The Festival of the Divine Shepherdess is a centuries-old tradition in Bétera and represents a new example of the importance that popular and religious celebrations maintain in the cultural life of the municipality.
Year after year, these traditions allow us to recover inherited customs and pass them on to new generations, keeping alive a heritage that is not only preserved in buildings or documents, but also in the celebrations shared by citizens.
Bétera will therefore once again have a double appointment with the Divine Shepherdess: Baixada on Monday, September 7, at 6:30 p.m. from the Ermita del Calvari, and Licitada on Tuesday, the 8th, at the same time from the Church of the Immaculate Conception.
Two days in which the municipality will once again reclaim its history and a way of keeping alive the traditions and customs that have been passed down from generation to generation.
