Bétera evaluates the safety of the Festivities and wins the II "City of Bétera " Competition

Bétera evaluates the security measures for the August Festivals and celebrates the winner of the II International Band Composition Competition "Ciutat de Bétera ".

The August Festivals of Bétera 2026 are already experiencing their central days, and the municipality does not stop. While the streets are filled with basil, gunpowder and music, the City Council has made public the safety assessment of these first days of celebrations and has announced excellent cultural news: Bétera now has the winner of the second edition of the International Composition Competition for Band "Ciutat de Bétera " . Two pieces of news that highlight how, even in the midst of the festival, the council works for the municipality and for its international projection.

Bétera evaluates the security of the 2026 August Festivals

The Bétera City Council has launched real-time monitoring of the security device deployed for the August 2026 Festival . From the Citizen Security area, the council has been evaluating the operation of the police force, Civil Protection and emergency services during the first days of the celebration, with the aim of guaranteeing that the development of the festive events takes place with maximum normality and tranquility for all the people who participate.

Bétera evaluates the safety of its August Festivals, an exercise of responsibility that the council maintains as an absolute priority throughout the celebrations. This continuous monitoring allows for the detection of possible incidents and the activation of the necessary protocols quickly, ensuring that each event —from rocket launches to concerts— goes off without a hitch.

The Bétera City Council has worked hard in recent months to ensure that the Festivities take place with complete normality and safety. The reinforcement of the security forces, the incorporation of TETRA transmitters for Civil Protection and the revision of the mobility plan for the days of maximum visitor influx constitute a device worthy of festivals that year after year bring together thousands of people from all over the Camp de Túria region and beyond.

It should be remembered that the addition of nine officers to the Local Police, in addition to the three new patrol vehicles, significantly strengthens the body's response capacity during the days of greatest public influx. The balance of the first days is expected to be positive, as has happened in previous editions thanks to the careful planning that characterizes the veteran municipal management.

The II International Competition "City of Bétera " already has a winner

One of the best cultural news of recent days comes from the world of music. With the work "Un americano en Tokio" , the composer Álvaro Cámara López, 32 years old and a native of Bailèn (Jaén), has delighted the jury and has won the first prize of this edition, endowed with 6,000 euros and the publication of his creation in the prestigious publishing house "Tot per… . A work that unites international cultural references with the sensitivity of music for symphonic band, precisely the genre that the competition wants to promote on a global scale.

Excellent news for the culture and music of Bétera , since the municipality is once again at the cultural and musical epicenter of the international scene with this composition contest that is promoted by the Bétera City Council and the Bétera Musical Artistic Center.

This competition has a single prize of 6,000 euros, making it one of the best in its category in Spain and Europe. A recognition that makes Bétera a reference for composers from all over the world, far beyond the Valencian and Spanish borders.

A competition with global reach

This year's competition has proven to be a real magnet for international composer talent. "Today we celebrate the success of the competition for the second edition of this international competition that transcends our borders and has received 33 works from 17 different nationalities that will be meticulously evaluated by an exceptional jury to choose the best one," highlighted Mayor Elia Verdevío at the time of closing the reception of works.

The jury includes internationally renowned professionals, such as José Vicente Egea Insa, composer and director of the Banda de Música «La Pamplonesa» ; Robert Spittal, composer and professor at Gonzaga University; and Luciano Feliciani, composer, director and professor at the Conservatorio Statale di Musica Carlo Gesualdo dona Venosa. A first-class jury that gives the competition a credibility and prestige recognized throughout the world of band composition.

The bands that will perform this winning work will be: Gonzaga University Wind Ensemble (USA), University of Northern Colorado Wind Ensemble (USA), Banda de Música "La Pamplonesa" (Spain), Symphonic Band of "La Lira Ampostina" (Spain), Orchesta di Fiati "Città di Ferentino" (Italy), Symphonic Band of the University of Cauca (Colombia) and Symphonic Band of the Javeriana University (Colombia). An international diffusion of the work that places Bétera on the musical map of the planet.

The August Festivals, in full swing

Meanwhile, the August 2026 Festivals continue their course with all the intensity that characterizes the Bétera celebrations. The Alfabegues Festivals of Bétera have been declared a Festival of Regional Tourist Interest since 2007 and the council is working to raise this recognition to a national level. "We have a great festival, full of history and tradition, a festival that is unique in the world that we want to become a Festival of National Tourist Interest", said Manuel Pérez, councilor for Festes de Bétera .

The Cant d'Estil and traditional dances are fundamental elements of the Festes, where on the 14th the Dansà stands out with its traditional dances, and then comes the Nit d'Albaes where the Cantà and the Ave Maria stand out. A unique combination of intangible heritage, gunpowder and agricultural tradition that makes this celebration something difficult to find anywhere else in the country.

The great farewell of the Festas, scheduled for August 22, will be as always a bittersweet moment for the veterans. The Eighth Mass, the making of the bolletes and the procession will precede the farewell of the 2026 Obreres i Mayorals. At 11:00 p.m. the 2027 Obreres i Mayorals will be presented, before Demarco Flamenco puts the musical finale. The tradition of the bolletes, those parchments that will reveal the names of the new representatives, will once again generate the anticipation that characterizes the end of the festivities year after year.

Bétera , a municipality that never stops

What is clear this week is that Bétera is much more than just a party. The municipality of Camp de Túria naturally combines the most deeply rooted festive tradition with international cultural projection, responsible municipal management and a commitment to quality services for its residents. Both the evaluation of the security system for the Festivities and the award won by the II International Band Composition Competition "Ciutat de Bétera " are clear evidence of this: even on the days of maximum celebration, Bétera continues to work and project itself to the world.
