Today, August 6, Bétera wakes up with its internal clock ticking: exactly six days until the start of the August 2026 Festivities, the most anticipated celebrations of the year in our municipality. The excitement is palpable in every street, every square and every conversation between neighbors. Workers, Mayors, the City Council and the entire Bétera community are working at a frenetic pace to ensure that the great festival from August 12 to 22 is remembered as one of the best editions.
The Workers and Foremen 2026, ready
The four Workers who will represent the August Festivities this year have already been presented to the municipality. Mireia García Ricart is the First Single Worker; Nathalie Martínez Arnal , the First Married Worker; Daniela Ferriol Fuentes , the Second Single Worker —who accepted the position via videoconference from Canada—; and Geli Garañana Escribano , the Second Married Worker. The four, together with the 26 Mayorals, have starred from the Pool Dinner to the traditional friendly match between the Mayorals of 2026 and 2027, an event that symbolizes the festive relay and reinforces the bonds of brotherhood that make the veterans' festivities a unique celebration.
One of the new features that has generated the most excitement among fans is that the shirts for this year's festivities feature a print designed by Francis Montesinos , the prestigious Valencian designer, a collaboration that brings an exceptional artistic touch to the clothing of the party's protagonists.
Program: from August 12 to 22, day by day
The August 2026 Festival in Bétera will last for eleven days full of events, tradition and excitement. Here is a preview of the key moments that you can't miss:
- August 12: Official start of the Festivities. Presentation of the Workers and Mayors in the Alameda. And, as an exceptional event, it will coincide with the solar eclipse that will make this day an astronomical and festive day at the same time.
- August 13: Traditional Valencian pelota match, one of the most deeply rooted heritage sports disciplines in the municipality.
- August 14: Dance with traditional dances and Night of the Dawn, with the Cantà and the Ave Maria as the most emotional moments of the evening.
- August 15: The big day. Bétera is surrounded by the unmistakable aroma of basil on the day dedicated to the Virgin of August, with the spectacular plants as the absolute protagonists and eleven tons of confetti covering the streets.
- August 17th and 18th: Two sessions of Shooting and Dragging, one of the disciplines that is part of the Valencian sporting heritage and that attracts a large number of spectators year after year.
- August 22: Day of the Bolletes, the bittersweet date in which the 2026 Festivities will be said goodbye and the names of the 2027 Workers will be revealed, closing the festive circle with a mixture of emotion and excitement.
In addition to these main events, throughout the eleven days there will be gunpowder, music, religious acts and popular culture that will fill every corner of the municipality. Gunpowder, an inseparable element of the Betera identity, will be played on numerous occasions, and the musical and popular culture programming will complete an agenda designed for all audiences and ages.
Basil, the symbol that brings everything together
The basils have been growing for months in the municipal garden under the supervision of the Master Basil Grower, Ramón Asensi. Cultivated with the care and know-how that characterize this centuries-old tradition, the aromatic plants are ready to be the undisputed protagonists of August 15. The cover of the August 2026 Festivities booklet is entitled "The blooming art of the festival and tradition" , by Norma Mejías Blanes, a winning proposal that perfectly captures the essence of a celebration that has no parallel in any other municipality in the Valencian Community.
"We have a great festival, full of history and tradition, a unique festival in the world that we want to become a Festival of National Tourist Interest." — Manuel Pérez, councilor for Festes de Bétera
Safety and mobility, well planned
The Bétera City Council has worked hard in recent months to ensure that the Festivities take place in complete safety and security. The reinforcement of the security forces, the incorporation of TETRA transmitters for Civil Protection and the revision of the mobility plan for the days of maximum visitor influx constitute a device that is up to the task of a festival that year after year brings together thousands of people from all over the Camp de Túria region and beyond. Residents and visitors who wish to travel by public transport are advised to check the Metrovalencia timetables in advance, especially during the main days of the celebrations.
Bétera , six days away: a countdown full of excitement
This August 6th, Bétera is alive with a special energy. The streets are starting to show the first signs of the big party that is coming: the Mayorals and the Obreres are moving around with full agendas , the basil is at its peak of growth and the City Council is finalizing the last organizational details so that everything is ready when they arrive next Wednesday, August 12th at night.
